Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, etc:

In just a few short months, a group of local riders and Ed Chrostowski (Team Millbury) will be taking part in a the Challenge of a Lifetime. On June 5, 2010, we will be cycling 100 miles in support of Best Buddies. Our specific goal is to bring a Best Buddies chapter to Millbury High School. As many as you already know, Lynne, my wife is a special education teacher at Millbury High School. Bringing the program to her school and her students gives the kids the long term benefits of the Best Buddies organization.

You may or may not have heard about Best Buddies and the amazing work that this organization does so let me give you some brief background: Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with all the forms of intellectual disabilities. Best Buddies operates in all 50 states and in over 46 countries and the organization focuses on pairing people with intellectual disabilities with volunteers in one-to-one friendships. These program take place in the Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges and in the community, through the Citizens Program and electronically through e-buddies. The Best Buddies Jobs program helps people with intellectual disabilities find competitive jobs in the community.

Now that you know a little more about what Best Buddies is, I am sure you will agree with me that this is an important cause! The Audi Best Buddies Challenge (the bike ride we will be doing on June 5th) is one of the major fundraising events which allow Best Buddies to continue running and expanding there important programs. In order to start a Best Buddies chapter, we need to raise $15,000 and we would love to have your support for our ride through a donation to Best Buddies. Every donation counts, however large or small, so please consider giving what ever your can. Your donation will support people with intellectual disabilities and help to end decades of job discrimination and social isolation. Your donation truly will change lives.

If you know others who would be interested in this important effort, please share this letter with them. We can use everyone's help and would love to have as many people participating as possible.
